Description

Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) in Nigeria encompass traditional practices, beliefs, and wisdom that have evolved over centuries among various ethnic groups. These systems play a crucial role in daily life, particularly in agriculture, healthcare, and environmental management. This article employs a qualitative research approach, drawing on interviews, focus groups, and document analysis conducted with business leaders, community members, and scholars from diverse Nigerian regions. The study focuses on the application of IKS in sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, and environmental conservation. The integration of IKS into business strategies offers a sustainable path forward for Nigeria's economic development while preserving cultural heritage and environmental sustainability. Business leaders should be encouraged to collaborate more closely with local communities to leverage their traditional knowledge. Policymakers must also develop frameworks that support this integration, ensuring regulatory compliance and financial incentives are in place.
