Description

This folder contains datasets delivered by a project funded by the International Science Partnerships Fund (ISPF) Institutional Support Grant. The project is titled “How Extreme Drought Disrupts River Transport and Isolates Amazonian Communities”. It aims to accelerate impact and generate new research initiatives within an active project supported by Royal Society: “Extremes in Brazilian Amazon lakes and its implications for social-ecological”.

This folder contains three types of datasets:

(1) Monthly water extent data of the central Amazon region over 2021–2025: water.gpkg.

(2) Monthly connectivity through waterways of 1,507 communities in the central Amazon region. These datasets are in two formats: villwithdeg.gpkg and villwithdeg.npy.

(3) A map of 154 communities at high risk of isolation during extreme droughts: highriskcomm.qgz.

Note: The plot folder contains a python code to quickly read and plot the connectivity data. There are several months that Landsat does not have high-quality satellite images, so that folders for these months are empty.

For more detailed information of these datasets and the project, please contact Dr. Haoran Shi (h.shi@bangor.ac.uk).
