Description
Abstract (English)
Article type: Narrative review
This paper analyzes morbidity and mortality associated with perforated peptic ulcer (PPU) in patients treated at Ciro Redondo García General Hospital between 2020 and 2024. Based on an ambiospectivo observational study of 83 cases, clinical patterns, risk factors, surgical techniques, and outcomes are identified. Older male patients, duodenal perforations, NSAID use, and frequent postoperative complications predominate. The review contextualizes these findings with international literature, highlighting the hospital burden of PPU and its implications for surgical practice in Cuba.
