This article investigates the semantic and pragmatic aspects of proverbs, focusing on the comparative analysis between the English and Uzbek languages. Proverbs, as a unique form of expression, offer rich insights into the cultural, societal, and psychological constructs of their respective languages. The study examines the meanings and contextual usages of proverbs in both English and Uzbek, highlighting the similarities and differences in their construction, interpretation, and pragmatic functions. Through a combination of qualitative and comparative methodologies, this thesis aims to demonstrate the way proverbs serve as cultural vehicles, conveying moral teachings, societal norms, and collective wisdom across both languages.
