Description

Côte d'Ivoire is a significant economic hub in West Africa, with pan-African companies operating within its borders. These companies often face cross-cultural challenges due to their diverse workforce and international operations. A qualitative approach was employed, involving semi-structured interviews with managers from various pan-African companies operating in Côte d'Ivoire. Data were analysed using thematic analysis. Interviews revealed that language barriers and differing work ethics represent significant obstacles for managing cross-cultural teams within these companies. Effective strategies such as cultural sensitivity training and enhanced communication channels are recommended to address the identified challenges. Pan-African companies should prioritise cultural awareness programmes and foster a more inclusive organisational culture to enhance team performance and operational efficiency.
