Description

This dataset contains a compiled catalogue of coins published from the archaeological site of Berenike, located on the Red Sea coast of Egypt.

The dataset brings together numismatic data published in excavation reports and studies based on archaeological investigations conducted at Berenike between 1994 and 2009. The purpose of this compilation is to facilitate the analysis of coin circulation, chronology, and spatial distribution of coin finds within the site.

This dataset was produced as part of the research project History from coins: the use and value of coins in the ancient Western Indian Ocean ports, funded by the National Science Centre, Poland (NCN), project no. 2021/43/D/HS3/00350.
