Description
Data for journal manuscript: Listening for extinction: Passive acoustic monitoring highlights critical risks and conservation priorities for northern spotted owls.
These data were compiled to examine northern spotted owl (Strix occidentallis caurina) acoustic landscape use by singles and pairs in 2023. Data were collected as part of the Northwest Forest Plan Interagency Regional Monitoring program, with passive acoustic monitoring lead by the USDA Forest Service PNW Research Station Bioacoustics Lab. The bioacoustic monitoring program randomly sampled 1,027 sites, primarily located on federally managed lands within the sub-species' range. Associated code allows analysis of acoustic capture histories to understand the roles of environmental codidtions on the current distrubution of northern spotted owls.
