Gender Gap Report – The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan 2025: An Institutional Analytical Reading Based on the Global Gender Gap Report 2025 Series: Arab Countries Gender Gap Report Series – Edition 2026

This report presents an institutional analytical reading of the performance of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in the Global Gender Gap Index 2025, published by the World Economic Forum. The study analyzes gender disparities across the four core dimensions of the index: economic participation and opportunity, educational attainment, health and survival, and political empowerment.

According to the 2025 edition of the index, Jordan ranks 122nd out of 148 countries worldwide, with an overall score of 0.655, indicating that approximately 65.5% of the gender gap has been closed. The results reveal a differentiated structure across the four dimensions. Jordan approaches near parity in educational attainment and records relatively balanced outcomes in health indicators, reflecting the strength of women’s human capital development. However, significant gaps persist in economic participation and political empowerment.

The report identifies what can be described as a structural “conversion gap”, where women’s strong educational achievements are not fully translated into labour-market participation, income generation, or representation in decision-making positions. The analysis also examines contextual economic, demographic, and institutional indicators that help explain the broader environment shaping gender outcomes in Jordan.

By providing a structured institutional interpretation of the Global Gender Gap framework, this report contributes to a deeper understanding of the dynamics of gender equality in Jordan and offers analytical insights relevant for policy discussions, research, and development planning.
