ENGLISH LITERATURE IN INCLUSIVE CLASSROOMS

Authors/Creators

Description

Literature is a compulsory part of the EFL program in Israel and many other countries. When
teenagers read poems, short stories, and novels, it helps them enrich their vocabulary and
grammar and enhance their fluency in English. It also improves their writing skills.
Furthermore, they enhance their outlook and general knowledge about the world when they
learn about different cultures, traditions, and history. Moreover, they analyze the characters'
deeds and behavior in the stories, which can teach them to develop critical thinking and to
distinguish good and bad. So, it is a vital part of the educational process which is supposed to
help schoolchildren think carefully about things. Nevertheless, it may be a bit challenging for
students with learning difficulties (LD) - therefore, remedial teachers need to find special
methods in inclusive classrooms to get students engaged in the learning process and make
them interested and motivated.
