CONDUCTING A NEEDS ANALYSIS FOR AI-BASED APPROACHES TO TEACHING WORD COMBINATIONS

Description

The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies has significantly influenced language education. One of the persistent challenges in second language learning is mastering word combinations, including collocations and lexical bundles. This study conducts a needs analysis to identify learners’ and teachers’ requirements for integrating AI-based tools in teaching word combinations. Data were collected through surveys and interviews with university students and language instructors. The findings reveal a strong need for interactive AI-based learning systems that provide contextualized examples, immediate feedback, and personalized learning pathways. The results suggest that AI-driven tools can enhance learners’ ability to acquire natural word combinations and improve overall language fluency.
