Traditional Knowledge is a vast treasure of knowledge suspectible to misappropriation because of its immense potential. Traditional knowledge can be found in a wide variety of contexts, including: ecological, geographical , agricultural, scientific, technical, and medicinal knowledge as well as biodiversity-related knowledge.TK is the indigenous knowledge possessed by various local communities accumulated through traditional and present day to day activities. The basis of this knowledge lies in relating community and its social, economic and cultural activities to local environment.The Traditional Knowledge Digital Library project, initiated in India in 2001, is a collaboration between the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Department of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, of India. It is being implemented at the CSIR.
