Phthorimaea operculella (Zeller, 1873)

COMMON NAME(S): Potato tuber moth.

SYNONYM(S): Gelechia terrella Walker, 1864b; Gelechia piscipellis Zeller, 1873, Gelechia solanella Boisduval, 1874, Gelechia tabacella Ragonot, 1879; Gelechia sedata Butler, 1880.

IUCN STATUS: Not Evaluated (NE).

DISTRIBUTION: Burundi, Cabo Verde, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Oman, Réunion, Rwanda, Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Seychelles, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Yemen, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: ‘Lusaka’, in Lusaka Province.

LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Brassica oleracea L.,(Brassicaceae), Eugenia sp.(Myrtaceae), Coffea sp. (Rubiaceae), Datura sp., Capsicum sp., Solanum tuberosum L. Solanum americanum L., Nicotiana tabacum L. (Solanaceae), Typha sp. (Typhaceae), Vaccinium sp. (Ericaceae).
