  • 2. Department of Soil Science, Université Gaston Berger (UGB), Saint-Louis

Description

Youth engagement in Senegali agribusiness and food systems has been identified as a critical area for development, yet limited comparative studies exist. The research employs a mixed-method approach combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews. Data was collected from 1200 young farmers in five selected regions using structured questionnaires. A notable finding is that youth are more active in agribusiness in the northern region, where they constitute 45% of all agribusiness participants (n=378). Youth play a significant role in Senegali agribusiness and food systems, with varying levels of engagement across regions. Policy makers should tailor support programmes to address specific needs identified within each region.
