Sample of Street View Images of French Urban Areas: Drap, Nice, Seclin
Authors/Creators
Description
This dataset contains 120 street-view photographs representing peripheral urban areas in the French Riviera and in the Lille–Roubaix–Tourcoing metropolitan areas (France). The sample focuses primarily on the suburban municipalities of Drap (Alpes-Maritimes) and Seclin (Nord), with additional images from the western periphery of Nice.
Photographs were taken in: 2024 (Drap), 2025 (Seclin), 2026 (Nice).
The dataset documents a range of street frontages characteristic of suburban and peri-urban environments. Each image includes a main street frontage as its primary subject, although elements of the opposite frontage may appear in the foreground. Photographs are not systematically perpendicular to the façade but are never axial to the street.
Images were taken from publicly accessible spaces using handheld digital cameras. License plates and human faces have been blurred to ensure privacy and GDPR compliance. No interior spaces are depicted.
Files are provided in JPEG format, ranging from 0.9 MB to 7.5 MB. The first letter of each filename indicates the municipality of acquisition (D = Drap, S = Seclin, N = Nice). No GPS metadata is embedded in the image files.
The sample was constructed to benchmark the Universal Visual Language Model (UVLM) within the emc2 research project. The dataset contains raw images only; no semantic annotations are included.
This resource was produced within the emc2 project, which is funded by ANR (France, grant ANR-23-DUTP-0003), FFG (Austria, grant FO999905461), MUR (Italy, grant 2024/0017648) and Vinnova (Sweden, grant 2023-02581) under the Driving Urban Transition Partnership, which has been co-funded by the European Commission.
