VPA.

CNC 2188750 ♀, CNC 2188753 ♀, CNC 2188867 ♀ (22. vi – 3. vii. 2023).

Distribution.

Known from Georgia (Japoshvili et al. 2018), Azerbaijan (Oboňa et al. 2019), Oriental Region, Palaearctic Region, including Europe, Iran (Parchami-Araghi et al. 2015 b), North Africa, Republic of South Africa, southeast Asia, North and South America (Stacconi 2022).

Remarks.

Commonly known as the Spotted Wing Drosophila, D. suzukii is a highly polyphagous pest, which causes economically significant damage to the fruit industry around the world (Stacconi 2022). Males are recognized by their spotted wings, as the common name suggests, while female are distinguished by their characteristic serrated ovipositor specialized in penetrating ripe fruits.
