Facing Death Honestly: An Author-Developed Psychological Support Practice
Description
This publication presents the author-developed psychological support practice “Facing Death Honestly” (Russian original: «Со смертью на ты»), created by Valery Kravitz.
The method is a structured psychological support model designed for individuals confronting the possibility of death due to severe illness or existential life circumstances. The practice integrates elements of existential reflection, psychological stabilization, personal responsibility, and practical life organization.
The intervention is structured as a short-term program consisting of 5–8 individual sessions. The process aims to reduce disorganizing death anxiety, restore psychological stability, support honest self-reflection, and assist individuals in making necessary personal and practical decisions.
The method does not replace medical treatment or psychotherapy and is intended as a supportive psychological practice that can accompany medical or therapeutic care.
The publication includes:
• theoretical foundations of the practice
• principles of psychological work
• structured session protocol (eight-session model)
• mechanisms of psychological action
• ethical considerations and limitations
• participant worksheets and facilitator guidelines
The work represents the first documented academic description of the author's practice.
