Description

This is eco-carbon-morphodynamic model that couples hydro-morphodynamic, mangrove dynamic and carbon dynamic processes.

The detail model development, description, and application are provided in Iwantoro et al. (2026).

Hyro-morphodynamic sub-model uses Delft3D v4.01.00. Mangrove dynamic sub-model use Dynamic Vegetation model by Xie et al. (2020, 2022, 2023). Carbon Dynamic sub-model was developed based on analytical approach by Chen and Twilley (1999). Both sub-models were developed and applied using MATLAB (R2022b).

The spinup simulation setup starts from the condition where mangrove does not exist yet and no SLR is imposed. The RCP 8.5 setup is the worst case SLR trajectory that starts 150 years after the spin up run.

This model was developed as part of project "Mangrove ecosystem services under pressure: the history and future of carbon sequestration hotspots", supported by Natural Environment Research Council (NERC, NE/V012800/1), which is part of UK Research and Innovation.
