Description

NHS Wales e-Library and its Service Board (managed by Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW)) / Wales Higher Education Libraries Forum (WHELF) commissioned Research Consulting to conduct a strategic review of Open Access publishing models for health and care research in Wales. This report summarises the current context for OA publishing in WHELF organisations, including the pressure on finance in Higher Education, and the scale of WHELF publishing activity over the last ten years. NHS Wales benefits from OA publication routes available to co-authors in academic institutions. Where these are not present, levels of OA are noticeably lower – less than half of such outputs from the last ten years are available through OA. The report presents four options for consideration. The most immediate benefit of these approaches would be for NHS Wales, but may offer advantages to WHELF in the longer term. We make eight recommendations for taking this work forward.

Comisiynwyd Research Consulting gan e-lyfrgell GIG Cymru a'i Bwrdd Gwasanaethau (a reolir gan Iechyd a Gofal Digidol Cymru (IGDC)) / Fforwm Llyfrgelloedd Addysg Uwch Cymru (WHELF) i gynnal adolygiad strategol o fodelau cyhoeddi Mynediad Agored ar gyfer ymchwil iechyd a gofal yng Nghymru. Mae'r adroddiad hwn yn crynhoi'r cyd-destun presennol ar gyfer cyhoeddi MA mewn sefydliadau WHELF, gan gynnwys y pwysau ar gyllid ym myd Addysg Uwch, a graddfa gweithgarwch cyhoeddi WHELF dros y deng mlynedd diwethaf. Mae GIG Cymru yn elwa ar lwybrau cyhoeddi MA sydd ar gael i gyd-awduron mewn sefydliadau academaidd. Lle nad yw'r rhain yn bodoli, mae’n amlwg bod lefelau MA yn is – mae llai na hanner y fath allbynnau dros y deng mlynedd diwethaf ar gael trwy MA. Mae'r adroddiad yn cyflwyno pedwar opsiwn i'w hystyried. Rydym yn gwneud wyth argymhelliad ar gyfer bwrw ymlaen â'r gwaith hwn.
