This policy briefing explores self-reported farm profitability trends (i.e. farmers’ own assessments of theirfinancial situation rather than official records) and influencing factors using data from the Farmer IntentionsSurvey (FIS) 2023, a large-scale telephone-based survey of 2,029 farmers, crofters, and other representativesof Scottish agriculture.
