Dashboard - Sea dispersion (version 1)
Authors/Creators
Description
Integrated system for the visualisation and prediction of particle dispersion at sea: a user‑friendly environment capable of supporting environmental monitoring, emergency response actions, and scenario exploration related to the accidental release of materials into the marine environment (e.g., unintentional pollutant discharges, marine litter, drifting objects). The dashboard implement a numerical model that allow users to configure simulations, explore input parameters, and examine the resulting dispersion patterns.
The model provides a simplified yet effective representation of particle movement driven solely by surface marine currents. In this configuration, the only physical processes included are advection and horizontal diffusion, represented through a diffusivity value.
The user can interactively select the number of particles, the release location and the diameter of the release area, which defines the initial spatial distribution of particles. Once these parameters are set, the dashboard visualises the evolution of the particle cloud over time, enabling users to interpret likely pathways and areas of potential accumulation.
The dashboard was developed using Angular 17 and TypeScript and is structured as a Single Page Application (SPA) composed of modular components. The dashboard is displayed using Leaflet.
