Are there benefits of using heparin or other anticoagulant locks in central catheters, like PICC lines and central venous catheters, to prevent complications?
Description
Heparin locks have been shown to reduce catheter-related thrombosis and may lower bloodstream infections compared to saline, with risks of bleeding and HIT. Data in pediatric patients and alternative lock solutions require further exploration.
