Historical DEMs and Elevation Change (dDEMs) of ANP (1959) and SNP (1958)
Description
This dataset contains high-resolution Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) and elevation change maps (dDEMs) for Auyuittuq (ANP) and Sirmilik (SNP) National Parks in Nunavut, Canada. These products were derived from historical aerial photography (1958–1959) from the National Air Photo Library (NAPL) to quantify long-term glacier fluctuations.
Data highlights:
-
Historical DEMs: Reconstructed using a photogrammetric workflow (PCI Geomatics Catalyst) from high-altitude Spartan Air Services surveys (Rolls A16817 and A16018).
-
dDEM Maps: Elevation change rasters calculated by subtracting modern ArcticDEM v4.1 surfaces from the 1958/1959 reconstructed topography.
-
Accuracy: Co-registered to ArcticDEM v4.1 with stable-terrain NMAD values of ~4.07m (ANP) and ~2.08m (SNP).
This data supports the analysis of geodetic mass balance and decadal glacier thinning trends in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago over a ~65-year period.
