Building Archivable Research Environments: The NFDIxCS Architecture
Authors/Creators
Description
NFDIxCS (National Research Data Infrastructure for Computer Science) builds infrastructure to support researchers in their research data and software management—a central aspect of advancing Open Science in Computer Science. While some communities, such as those in Supercomputing and the International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE), have already integrated reproducibility practices into their publication processes, others, like the German Conference on Education Technology (DELFI), are taking initial steps in this direction. NFDIxCS supports these efforts by engaging in discussions and creating solutions to meet communities' needs, with a focus on expandability for other disciplines.
This presentation will provide insights into the current practices for creating an archivable Research Data Management Container (RDMC) and its Reusable Execution Environment (REE). Through community-driven processes, these use cases were compiled to create an architecture for FAIR-compliant NFDIxCS infrastructure, working in conjunction with existing systems within the NFDI and beyond.
