Description

This dataset contains the raw and processed temporal outcomes obtained during the instrumented Timed Up and Go (iTUG) test performed by healthy young adults. The purpose of the dataset is to support the validation of smartphone-derived inertial measurements against a laboratory-based three-dimensional motion capture system.

Participants performed three repetitions of the iTUG test while simultaneously monitored using a lumbar-mounted smartphone running the Momentum sensors application and a Vicon Bonita motion capture system. Temporal parameters were extracted using automated event-detection algorithms applied to inertial signals and kinematic displacement data.

The dataset includes phase-specific temporal outcomes derived from both measurement systems, including:
- total test duration
- forward walking duration
- return walking duration
- sit-to-stand duration
- stand-to-sit duration

For each participant, the values represent the mean of three repetitions of the iTUG test in order to avoid pseudo-replication and preserve the paired structure of the comparison between measurement systems.

These data support the analyses presented in the manuscript:
“Smartphone-Derived Temporal Subphase Analysis of the Timed Up and Go Test: Validation Against 3D Motion Capture”.

The dataset is provided in Microsoft Excel format to facilitate reuse and transparency of the statistical analyses reported in the article.
