HERMENEUTIC TRANSLATION OF IMPLICIT CULTURAL MEANING IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK HEADLINES
Authors/Creators
Description
The paper addresses a practical problem in English–Uzbek headline translation: much of the communicative force is implicit, carried by presuppositions, implicatures, and culturally loaded words. Using a hermeneutic protocol, the study outlines how translators can reconstruct the source horizon of meaning and decide what should be made explicit in the target headline. The discussion integrates Uzbek scholarship on headline translation with foundational work in pragmatics and translation quality assessment.
