Description

Closing presentation from the first day of the Copim Conference 2026, a hybrid event (26-27 February) focusing on the future of community-led open access books, delivered by Dr. Vincent W.J. van Gerven Oei (CEO, Thoth Open Metadata) and supported by the Thoth Open Metadata team.

Abstract: Since its initial conception before the start of the Copim project to the end of the Copim Open Book Futures project, Thoth has been in development for more than six years. During that period, a work package grew into an open-source non-profit start-up incorporated in the UK with more than 80 publishers using it on a daily basis to manage and disseminate metadata and ebooks. The final session of the day presents the flagship Thoth 1.0 platform, with a revamped suite of services including a usage statistics dashboard and reusable website and catalogue, a complete overhaul of Thoth’s user interface, and the introduction of a high-quality extended multilingual metadata schema tailored to the needs of open access book publishers.
