Description
Heraclia africana (Butler, 1875a)
COMMON NAME(S): African False Tiger.
SYNONYM(S): Eusemia meretrix Westwood, 1881a; Xanthospilopteryx fatima Kirby, 1891; Xanthospilopteryx flava Jordan, 1913.
IUCN STATUS: Not Evaluated (NE).
DISTRIBUTION: Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: ‘Lusaka’, in Lusaka Province.
LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Larval foodplants include two species from the plant family Vitaceae namely, Cyphostemma cirrhosum (Thunb.) Desc. ex Wild & R.B.Drumm. and Rhoicissus tridentata (L.f.) Wild & R.B.Drumm. (African Moths 2019).
