Field materials from ethnographic research on Bahnar environmental knowledge and animism, Kon Tum, Vietnam

This record contains selected field materials from ethnographic research (2021-2025) in Kon Tum Province, Vietnam on animism and environmental knowledge among the Bahnar people. Materials include cultural documentary photographs (with allowable metadata), lexical audio recordings (with lexical metadata), cultural documentary video recordings (with allowable metadata), excerpts from field notes (by K. David Harrison and Hoai Tran, PIs), field expedition summary reports, and lexicographic data (text and audio). All materials have been selected with attention to the privacy and data sovereignty of the Bahnar community. All photos, audio, and video recordings are made with informed consent, and respect the individuals' and community's wishes about what information may be shared. Full field data and full metadata identifying specific individuals are not typically shared in this resource due to the sensitive nature of the topic, the terms of our research permit, and in accordance with the principles of Indigenous data sovereignty (Carroll et al. 2020). Also included is a digitized copy of Dourisboure P-X. Dictionnaire Bahnar-Français. Hong Kong: Société des missions étrangères. 1889, a public domain work that served as the primary lexicographic source for this research (Digitized by Google; original work is in the public domain).
