INFLUENCE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ON THE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF BUSINESS EDUCATION STUDENTS IN EBONYI STATE UNIVERSITY, ABAKALIKI

Description
This study investigates the influence of artificial intelligence (AI) on the academic performance of business education students in Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki. Three research questions were answered. This study adopted descriptive survey research design. The population for this study consisted of 150 business education students from Ebonyi State University; Abakaliki There is no sample since the population was manageable. Structured questionnaire with 4-point Likert scale was used for data collection. The instrument was validated by project supervisor and one expert in Business Education Department, Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki. The researcher made use of one research assistant. The research assistant was only responsible for administering and retrieving of the questionnaire from the respondents while the researcher supervised the administration and retrieval of the questionnaire. 150 copies of the questionnaires were distributed and collected by the researcher for analysis. The data collected from the respondents were analyzed using mean and standard deviation. The findings of the study revealed that business education students make use of Artificial Intelligence educational platforms for academic purpose at a little extent; the findings reveal that AI has a significant positive impact on students' academic performance, particularly in areas such as personalized learning, automated grading, and feedback provision. Additionally, the study found that AI-powered tools enhance students' engagement, motivation, and overall learning experience. The findings of this study have implications for business education instructors, policymakers, and stakeholders in the education sector. Based on the findings, the study recommended among others that university management should provide comprehensive training programs and workshops for business education students to enhance their understanding and effective use of AI tools in academic settings.
