DIPLOMACY AND LANGUAGE: TURKISH AND UZBEK DIPLOMATIC DISCOURSE IN COMPARISON
Description
This article examines the relationship between diplomacy and language through a comparative analysis of Turkish and Uzbek diplomatic discourse. Diplomatic discourse represents a specialized form of institutional communication characterized by formality, precision, politeness strategies, and the use of culturally and politically sensitive language. The study focuses on identifying the linguistic, pragmatic, and stylistic features that shape diplomatic communication in Turkish and Uzbek. Particular attention is given to lexical choices, formulaic expressions, speech etiquette, and pragmatic strategies used to convey diplomatic intentions, maintain neutrality, and ensure mutual understanding. The findings highlight the importance of linguistic competence, cultural awareness, and pragmatic sensitivity in diplomatic communication and translation. This study contributes to the fields of discourse analysis, translation studies, and international communication by providing insights into the role of language in diplomacy and intercultural relations.
