Trimodal Corridor KPI Dataset for Multimodal Freight Analysis in Germany (Hamburg–Basel Axis, T1–T6)

Authors/Creators

Description

This dataset contains the structured analytical inputs and calculated Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) used to evaluate multimodal freight transport performance across six predefined German corridor segments forming a north–south axis from Hamburg to Weil am Rhein. The dataset supports a comparative assessment of Road (truck), Rail (electric freight train), and Inland Waterway Transport (barge) under controlled scenario conditions.

The dataset was developed to enable reproducible benchmarking, sustainability trade-off analysis, and scenario sensitivity evaluation within a decision-support framework implemented in Microsoft Power BI. It operationalizes multimodal freight comparison through three harmonized performance dimensions:

  • Economic performance (cost per tonne-kilometre)

  • Operational performance (total transit time)

  • Environmental performance (CO₂e emission intensity, WTW boundary)

All results derived from this dataset follow a frozen scope and fixed slicer protocol to ensure transparency and reproducibility.
