The Void: A Structural Analysis of Non-Existence — Why There Could Never Have Been Nothing

  • 1. NohMad LLC

Description

This paper applies the persistence filter established in “Persistence Without Contradiction” to its own limiting case: absolute nothingness. It proves that the Void, defined as total potentiality with zero actualized distinctions, contains a globally coupled contradiction that admits no admissible partition and therefore fails both conditions of the persistence filter simultaneously. The Void was never a coherent alternative to existence. It was not defeated or displaced by something. It was never a determinate state.

The paper then proves that the resolution of the Void’s impossibility requires no prior cause, agent, or substrate. The first distinction is a fixed point, simultaneously the operator, the operand, and the output, whose existence is guaranteed independently by William Lawvere’s fixed-point theorem and Stephen Cole Kleene’s second recursion theorem. Existence is not created. It is what structural necessity selects when all alternatives are impossible.

The paper concludes by proving the law-mind identity theorem: for any form with sufficient recursive self-modeling capacity, the external description as CRIS-satisfying and the internal description as recursively self-maintaining are co-descriptions of the same fixed point. Mind is not produced by an independently existing universe. It is the internal face of the process by which existence maintains itself. The universe is a structural correction. Mind is the mechanism by which the correction maintains itself. Empirical convergence is documented across thermodynamics, dissipative structures, hyperbolic geometry, and consciousness research, none of which were derived from this framework but all of which independently arrive at structurally equivalent results.
