The CIRCLE Reflective Model: An Ubuntu‑Informed Framework for Health & Social Care Education
Description
Description / Abstract
The CIRCLE Reflective Model is an original framework developed by Chris Dlamini, Senior Lecturer in Health & Social Care at Leeds Trinity University. The model offers an Ubuntu‑informed, relational and inclusive approach to reflective practice suitable for health and social care education, practice‑education, supervision, and professional development.
CIRCLE represents six interconnected stages: Context & Community; Identity & Inclusion; Relational Encounter; Care & Ethics; Learning (Collective); Empowerment & Action.
The model’s purpose is to shift reflection from an individualised activity to a community‑centred, dignity‑affirming and justice‑oriented practice, aligned with Ubuntu values of relationality, reciprocity, collective responsibility and social justice.
