ABSTRACT
This article examines the structural dynamics that shape Brazil’s sociopolitical field and the limits they impose on the construction of a development project capable of overcoming national dependency and inequality. Based on the notion of an “Imposed Future” (in Portuguese, “imposed” translates as “imposto”, which also means “tax”), the study analyzes two complementary dimensions; first, the historical persistence of a political horizon imposed by the colonial matrix and reproduced by hegemonic elites; then, the structural constraints that prevent any substantive reform of the tax system. The text articulates a dialectical reading of power and knowledge, revealing how mechanisms of denial, foreclosure, and interdiction block alternatives for transformation. Recent episodes are also examined, as attempts at symbolic rupture that triggered processes of political delegitimization. Finally, it contends that the effective expansion of women's participation in state institutions constitutes a strategic prerequisite for destabilizing the historical pattern of patriarchal domination and opening the possibility of a future that is not imposed, but rather democratically constructed.

RESUMO
Este artigo examina as dinâmicas estruturais que configuram o campo sociopolítico brasileiro e seus limites para a construção de um projeto de desenvolvimento capaz de superar o atraso, a dependência e a desigualdade. A partir da noção de “Futuro Imposto”, analisam-se duas dimensões complementares: por um lado, a persistência histórica de um horizonte político imposto desde a matriz colonial e reproduzido pelas elites hegemônicas; por outro, as restrições estruturais que impedem qualquer reforma substantiva do sistema tributário. O texto articula uma leitura dialética entre poder e saber, mostrando como mecanismos de negação, esquecimento e interdição bloqueiam alternativas de transformação social. Examinam-se também episódios recentes, como as tentativas de ruptura simbólica que ativaram processos de deslegitimação política. Por fim, propõe-se que a ampliação efetiva da participação feminina na estrutura do Estado constitui uma condição estratégica para desestabilizar o padrão histórico de dominação patriarcal e abrir a possibilidade de um futuro não imposto, mas democraticamente construído.
