Description

This dataset contains the list of USPTO patents in space-related technologies. Only patents that are coded as space-related according to at least one classification method are included in the dataset. Please refer to the citation paper for information on how this dataset is assembled.

The variables are as follows:

  • patnum: USPTO patent number
  • space_score: Score (between 0 and 1) obtained from the logistic regression to predict proximity to space technologies
  • fyear: Filing year of the patent
  • space_transport_narrow: Flag (0-1) for whether the patent belongs to the Space Transportation (narrow) group
  • space_transport_extended: Flag (0-1) for whether the patent belongs to the Space Transportation (extended) group
  • broader_space_tech: Flag (0-1) for whether the patent belongs to the Broader Space Technologies group
  • category_code: Code for the category of space technology within the Dealroom taxonomy
  • category_name: Name of the category of space technology within the Dealroom taxonomy
