Remarks

Pleuraphodius is a genus considered to be restricted to the Old World (Dellacasa et al. 2001a). Pleuraphodius vespuccii was described from Serra de Paranapiacaba, São Paulo State, Brazil, but Skelley et al. (2007) comment on how this species may have been described based on a mislabeled specimen and should probably be removed from the list of New World taxa.
