Description

Electric vehicles (EVs) are increasingly adopted in urban settings as part of efforts to reduce air pollution and mitigate climate change impacts. The analysis employs data from municipal records on vehicle registrations and emissions monitoring systems to assess the impact of EV initiatives. A notable trend observed was an increase of 20% in private EV adoption among urban households compared to public sector uptake, highlighting varying levels of consumer interest based on access to charging infrastructure. The study concludes that while initial barriers to EV adoption persist, the economic benefits and environmental improvements suggest a promising future for sustainable mobility solutions in Lagos. Governments should prioritise expanding public EV charging networks to encourage wider private sector uptake of electric vehicles.
