Preparedness Factors of Bachelor of Elementary Education Graduates for the Licensure Examination for Teachers
Authors/Creators
Description
This study identifies the factors influencing the preparedness of NEUST Gabaldon Campus BEED graduates before taking the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET). Using a quantitative online survey, data were collected from 18 BEED graduates who took the LET. The research highlights the LET as a key measure of teacher competency and a requirement under RA 7836, emphasizing the academic, emotional, and psychological challenges examinees encounter. Despite NEUST Gabaldon Campus's high LET passing rates -100 % for Secondary and 87.23% for Elementary education first-takers in 2023-the institution faces ongoing challenges in maintaining these outcomes due to diverse factors affecting student preparedness. The study, grounded in the Holistic Teacher Education Institution (TEI) theory, categorizes preparedness factors into personal (study habits, time management, motivation), institutional (review program availability, faculty support), and external (emotional management, social expectations, financial capability, family support). Findings show that attending review sessions, having a positive mindset, self-discipline, and effective time management are crucial for LET's success. The results aim to guide improvements in review programs, mentorship, and support systems, benefiting NEUST and other teacher education institutions in enhancing LET performance and advancing quality education in the Philippines.
