Description
This repository contains a dataset of synthetic satellite images for southern right whales (Eubalaena australis), including mother–calf pairs generated from real satellite imagery collected in South African coastal waters, and beluga whales (Delphinapterus leucas) in the Canadian Arctic off Baffin Island, Nunavut. The dataset was released in “Enhancing Satellite-Based Detection of Marine Fauna Using Synthetic Data". The dataset consists of synthetic versions of sub-images extracted from WorldView-3, WorldView-2, and Geoeye-1 satellite images (c) Maxar Technology acquired between 2009 and 2022.
