Der Strompreis-Index für Haushalte in Deutschland: Methodik und Indexkonstruktion seit 2017

This report describes the methodology used by StromAuskunft.de to measure household electricity prices for new contracts in Germany since 2017.

The dataset is based on daily price observations in more than 6,300 German cities using standardized tariff selection criteria and a reference consumption of 3,500 kWh per year.

Based on this dataset, the German Household Electricity Price Index was developed with base year 2017 = 100.

The methodology ensures transparency, reproducibility and long-term consistency and provides a reliable basis for energy market analysis.
