La superficie inesauribile delle cose. Visualità, complessità, esperienza in Italo Calvino

This essay aims to explore the relationship between some aspects of Italo Calvino’s narrative and the studies on complexity theories. By analyzing massive presence of some suggestions which Calvino surely took from physics and mathematical fields (he actually read scientifical essays), the study demonstrates the way in Calvino’s lattest novel, Palomar, there are many references to the functioning of complex systems. Then it aims to reflect on the relationship between the themes of visibility, complexity and the rapresentation of experience in narrative form.
