Type species: Cleothera (Cyra) quinquenotata Mulsant, 1850; by subsequent designation of Gordon et al. (2013).

Distribution by States in the Northeast Region of Brazil. Rio Grande do Norte; Pernambuco.

Species from the Northeast Region of Brazil. Cyrea sue Canepari & Gordon, 2016; Cyrea maxine Canepari & Gordon, 2016 [new record] (Fig. 2).

Material examined. Cyrea maxine: “ NATAL / R. G. Norte [Rio Grande do Norte] Brasil / XI.1949 / M.Alvarenga leg.” [partially handwritten white label] “ Cyrea / maxine / Canepari e Gordon, 2016/ J. Duarte-de-Mélo det. 2023” [white label] 1 ex. [DZUP 190017].

Comments. Cyrea is represented by 58 species in Brazil, and C. maxine is the second record of Cyrea for NE Brazil (Canepari et al. 2016).
