Description

This technical report synthesizes the main insights from the first “Women on FHIR” Virtual Roundtable, organized by the HL7 International Affiliation for Central America and the Dominican Republic (HL7 CAM). The discussion brought together female leaders from Brazil, Colombia, and Chile to reflect on the evolution of health interoperability and the adoption of HL7 FHIR in the region. The report highlights a shift from isolated technical implementations toward organizational, governance, and sustainability-driven approaches. It also addresses persistent gender gaps in technical and strategic roles within digital health. The document provides key findings and strategic recommendations for HL7 affiliates, governments, academia, and healthcare organizations to advance sustainable, ethical, and inclusive interoperability in Latin America and the Caribbean.
