Ropalidia soikae Polašek, 2025
Observations.
Bénin • multiple ♀♀, nest; Natitingou; 10.25237°N, 1.37562°W; 19 Aug 2022; obs Florentin N’dah; (N’dah 2022).
Ghana • 7 ♀♀, nest; Wechiau Community Hippo Sanctuary, Talawona Lodge; 9.73986°N, 2.78296°E; 25 Mar 2005; obs Robert Longair; (Longair 2020).
Nest.
This is a canopy-nesting species, which builds initially elongated nests with apical stalk. At later colony cycle stages, the nests are expanded by an accessory lobe (s), which lead to a branched or a triangular nest form (Longair 2020; N’dah 2022). The cell wall is grey with some brownish streaks, with whitish-grey cocoon caps that are elevated above the cell margin.
