University without walls: Wellbeing lessons from Ukrainian war zones
Description
This presentation was delivered in 2026 as part of the Visiting Scholar Lecture series at the University of Melbourne (Faculty of Education), Australia.
The lecture, “University without walls: Wellbeing lessons from Ukrainian war zones”, explores the transformation of Ukrainian universities under conditions of full-scale war, with particular focus on academic wellbeing and mental health.
Drawing on the experience of a displaced university, the presentation reflects on burnout, anxiety, institutional responsibility, and the concept of the post-territorial university. The talk situates wellbeing not as an individual issue, but as a structural dimension of higher education governance during prolonged crisis.
