Description

This dataset contains data used for species distribution modeling and analyses in the study "Spider habitat preference and dispersal frequency influence the performance of species distribution models" (under submission), as well as Supplementary material for the paper.

Files included:

  • Riepsaite_supplementary-01.pdf - Material supplementary to the paper. Includes literature references for spider ecological classification, dataset sources, and the aligned rank transform contrast (ART-C) test outputs.
  • A_spider-observations.rar - contains initial spider occurence data in Darwin Core format gathered from the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF.org) as well as spider distribution data from Lithuania collected during 2002-2024. Individual dataset descriptions are provided in Riepsaite_supplementary-01.pdf, table S1.
  • B_selected-species-data.rar - contains the merged spider observation datasets and selected spider species (n = 105) observations. Spider species selected and their habitat affinities are provided in Riepsaite_supplementary-01.pdf, table S2.
  • C_final-data-for-species-modeling.rar - contains four different dataset versions based on the combinations of bias treatment, prepared for species distribution model tuning and evaluation.
    • nf105spp_distances.csv: no bias treatment;
    • filt105spp_dist_sbr.csv: both bias corrections applied;
    • filt105spp_distances.csv: only environmentally filtered;
    • nf105spp_dist_sbr.csv: only roadside bias corrected data.
  • D_model-performance-results.rar - the results of species distribution model performance evaluation, to be used in statistical analysis.

R scripts for the data preparation, species distribution modeling, statistical analysis and figures, as well as outputs can be found in this project's GitHub repository mrieps/spiderEcoCharSDM.
