INTEGRATING OBSERVABILITY IN SPRING BOOT MICROSERVICES FOR ENHANCED CLOUD OPERATIONS

Description

This research examines using observability tools logs, traces, and metrics in Spring Boot microservices to support reliability, performance, and monitoring in cloud-native architectures. The research addressed key pain points within Spring Boot frameworks, including having no debugging capability, lack of near real-time insight into deployments, and complexities of multiple distributed services. The frameworks, including Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry as well as industry examples presented (Netflix, Airbnb and others). This suggests integrated observability to reduce downtime and support operational awareness and knowledge in cloud-based microservices—findings aimed to indicate the relevant need for a unified observability process.
