Gene and genotype frequencies of color blindness in Basrah population

This document presents a scientific study investigating the prevalence and genetic frequency of color blindness among 2,760 primary and secondary students across various regions of Basrah, Iraq. Utilizing Ishihara color charts, the researchers found that 6.40% of males and 0.91% of females were color blind, with deutan being the most common deficiency type identified. The findings highlight a significant lack of awareness regarding this condition in the population and establish a total colorblind allele frequency of 0.084
