Diamond Open Access Standard (DOAS) Guide for Journals (Portuguese version)
Authors/Creators
Description
This document contains the Portuguese version of the Diamond Open Access Standard (DOAS) – Guide for Journals.
The Guide for Journals translates the requirements of the Diamond Open Access Standard (DOAS) into the context of individual scholarly journals. The original DOAS framework, however, is primarily addressed to Diamond Open Access publishers and service providers.
This guide adapts and contextualises the DOAS criteria to support editorial bodies in aligning their journals with the principles and requirements of the standard.
The Guide for Journals:
-
Facilitates the practical implementation of DOAS at the journal level.
-
Supports transparency and quality enhancement in editorial processes.
-
Complements existing checklists and evaluation tools for journal development.
-
Assists journals in preparing for inclusion in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).
Relation to the DOAS
The Guide for Journals is derived from the Diamond Open Access Standard (DOAS), one of the main outputs of the DIAMAS project, providing a shared quality framework for Diamond Open Access publishing.
The DOAS framework is structured around seven core components:
-
Funding
-
Legal ownership, mission, and governance
-
Open Science
-
Editorial management, editorial quality, and research integrity
-
Technical service efficiency
-
Visibility, communication, marketing, and impact
-
Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (EDIB), multilingualism, and gender equity
