Hypena fumidalis Zeller, 1852

COMMON NAME(S): Streaked Snout.

SYNONYM(S): Hypena abyssinialis Guenée, 1854; Hypena ignotalis Walker, 1859a; Hypena dispunctalis Walker, 1866a.

IUCN STATUS: Not Evaluated (NE).

DISTRIBUTION: Angola, Bahrain, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Oman, Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Yemen, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: Kafue, in Lusaka Province; Mbala, in Northern Province.

LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Lantana camara, a Verbenaceae invasive plant species is reported as host plant of the taxon in the United Arab Emirates (Fibiger & Legrain, 2009). The same plant species is also repoted as host plant in African countries (Gardner, 1941). The African Moths (2019) webpage, on the other hand, also includes the Verbenaceae species Lantana indica Roxb. as a larval foodplant of the taxon.
